Happy Kid

April 4, 2008

I may always whine about having no nanny (nightmare of a working mom) for my 20-month old son for 2 weeks now but I realized; the boy seemed happier these days.

The set-up is, I leave the boy with Inday (our cook) or my mom in the mornings when I leave for work, then I come back at 10 am to put him to sleep. By lunchtime when he wakes up, we eat together. By the time I need to work again the cook or the other maid looks out for Joshua. I put him to sleep again by 330pm; sometimes my brother looks after him, sometimes my mom whoever is available.

Everybody in the house takes turn watching over him. Looking at him now, he seems more relaxed, more ‘pilio‘ but funny, more himself.

His nanny, although admittedly a great nanny, was uptight and very strict with Joshua. I am into disciplining the boy, but I also want him to explore. To be adventurous. To be brave. Before he was always with his nanny, people in the household went about their ways. Of course they played with the boy but it’s different now. A more relaxed environment.

Just the way I like it. But of course we are still in the look out for a new nanny! I am just glad everybody in the household is pitching in to help me out.

Also, I noticed Joshua gained weight. He eats rice now during lunch and dinner! Cerelac is for breakfast only. He’s growing so fast.
